The creepy atmosphere and details

Postby Darkchocolatex » Nov 03, 2012 2:19 am

I'm happy to see after all these years that a real survival horror game is being made, the first thing that catched my eye in the images that has been released is the amount of detail and the creepy atmosphere.

I really hope they keep this up for the game it-self, If the game looks as good as the released art and they do add the same amount of detail.. i think this may become one of the best games ever made.

I'm very excited, and whenever I lose some excitement, I look back at the art and get excited again.

I want this to live up to the hopes so much.

The screenshots so far remind me a bit of Amnesia for some reason. Looking forward to this game.

Somehow i think thats the lost spirit of devil may cry and biohazard 4 beta.
This dirty and disturbing Artworks look like there's comming a real big survival horror game that could scare the player perfectly since 1996's Dog-Window scene of Resident Evil 1.
I can't wait for this game ;(

For health reasons not allowed to play RE anymore because of the jump scares. Be nice to play a horror game again that is more about atmosphere and not cheap tactics.

Honestly dont think theres been any jump scares in Resident evil since maybe 4, I know Re 6 pretty much didnt have any, and if Re5 did I just cant recall them. However, I wouldnt be surprised if Mikami does include some in a survival horror game, although I too hope for the adoption of a more Silent Hill like use of tension and atmosphere in the environment.

Not played a RE game since 4 but that was originally because I didn't like the direction the series went. I just in general don't like shooting anything in games with very few exceptions.

I love REmake but now I can't play it. So it just sits on my shelf

Oh I see, well don't feel too bad, if you played the earlier resident evil's and 4, youre really not missing much in my opinion, and even as shooting games, there are some far far better games on the market for just that, Resident evil I felt was better done as either a survival horror, or a more hybrid attempt.

However, I do hope Zwei attempts to have both those cheap heart pounding scares, as well as the absolutely freaky and horrifying atmosphere we all want. Both would be a blessing.

While I feel Project Zero / Fatal Frame is one of the best horror series (namely Zero 2), it's not a formula that can be replicated nor should it be. With that said, if there is one thing to take from the series it would be the overall concept behind the formula. The pacing, atmospheric detail and ambiance mix extremely well with the gameplay mechanics for something that ends up just as horrifying as it is enjoyable. There are a lot of great titles and series to look for inspiration from. When it comes to Zwei however, I hope it can define the genre once more, not follow in any one games footsteps.
