The Evil Within's Save System Explained

Many were wondering whether or not The Evil Within will use a Save Point system or a Checkpoint system, but it would seem the game, at it current stage, will utilize both. Bethesda community manager, Matt Grandstaff, explained just how this will play out:

"Right now the game has it where you can only save at save points. That being said, there are set checkpoints you can come back from if you die during a gameplay session."

So it's like Resident Evil 4's save system. Pretty cool 8-)

You could only save your progress at select locations in the game (typewriters) but if you died, you'd just respawn at the last checkpoint instead of having to respawn from your last save. ;)

Personally, I'm not really content with this system, since unlike RE4, this one is a pure survival horror game... But when you think about it, it could've been worse. There could've been autosaves or quick saves.

At least now we will (hopefully) get a Save-Room theme. :P

Exactly, it could have been worse. I think the amount of save points and check points in BH4 was pretty balanced. I hope we get save-room theme's as well, that could be a nice touch for oldschool nostalgia's sake  I would also like no music at all in a few save points, just the creepy enviroment sounds  or just the option to turn off the music like in REmake, sometimes we just want to hear the air around us :D
